Re: The Call goes out...
Thu, June 10, 2004 - 5:39 PMHow about playing this:
(Lifted from the Jackrabbit)
BURN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY
Saturday, July 3rd and Sunday, July 4th
$20 presale, ($40 at the gate)
Presales will begin in 3 weeks, at www.la-burningman.com, and will end Thursday, July 1st.
THE OFFICIAL BURNING MAN L.A. COMPRESSION PARTY.
Proceeds will be donated to the Black Rock Arts Foundation (BRAF) www.blackrockarts.org/, and the LA - Burning Man Regional community.
There will be:
- desert camping in the middle of a national park, on private land (we can do as we please)
- two areas with music- including the Mutaytor, Wolfie, and many other artists and DJ's
- Musicians and DJ's from all our communities- Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Diego and San Francisco
- 3 waterfalls 1/2 a mile from the site - you can go swimming!
- showers are 3 bucks, and there are RV HOOKUPS
- A DJ time slot where YOU bring your music, and we play it for you
- there is a RESTRAINT and a BAR ON SITE
- The Bouncey Bouncey BM Theme Camp will host a chill area
- From San Diego, Mark Hinkley and XARA will be involved with
decorations
- YOUR BM Theme Camp - if you email us back
- and YOU!.... having a blast!
We are taking over a motel in the middle of a nearby desert. There is ample theme camp space, and then a small motel with all facilities- bathrooms, showers, food, water right on site.
THIS IS A COMMUNITY EVENT. Just like Burning Man, we are taking a chunk of land, and building our own town for a weekend.
This is the perfect testing ground for all your Burning Man gear. Work out the bugs BEFORE you take it to the Playa! You can bring friends who are on the fence about going, it will be all the fun of the Playa, with a ton of creature comforts. It's an easy drive 2 1/2 hours outside of Los Angeles. For those coming from other cities, Santa Barbara is about 2 1/2 hours drive, Las Vegas is about a 3 hr drive, San Diego is
about a 4 1/2 hour drive, San Francisco is 6 hrs away, and Phoenix is about a 7 1/2 hour drive.
We will be out at the site on Friday, setting up. You're welcome to come early, and get the weekend started on Friday. On Saturday, at noon, the event officially starts, the sound systems begin, and the town is created.
The $20 ticket price does not include accommodations. You have several options. Camping is $10, RV empty spaces are $15, RV space WITH HOOKUP is $25, and there may be a few motel rooms available for $80 a night. More on that soon.
If you'd like your theme camp represented, or you're an artist that would like to feature your particular brand of art, art car, or any other Burning Man related projects, please contact us at la@burningman.com and we'll take it from there.
No need to worry about what to do with your 4th of July weekend. We've taken care of it for you! All you need to do is be there!!

Re: The Call goes out...
Mon, June 14, 2004 - 12:30 PMWell, if fspace plays, the chance of going would increase slightly...
I think it could be really fun, especially if the LA cacophony crowd are involved in any way! And especially if you and Grant go! -

Re: The Call goes out...
Wed, June 16, 2004 - 1:15 PMwe are considering going. we have to make sure everything fits into our limited time this summer. but it sounds like it's much closer than brc, which is a big plus. grant was wanting to go to gerlach on the 4th, but i think it's too far for just a weekend. besides, i the playa would seem empty...
