This year we continue our support of EXTREME music, art and performance. This years festival is twice the size of last years. This year is a completely NON COMPRIMISING event. We are also proud to support even More WOMEN musicians. Many of our bands feature women in traditional male leadership roles.

    The Art:

All of the installed art is being entirely guest cur rated by JIM MASON and the Shipyard as:

RIGGED: An Arbitrary Assembly of Airborne Aesthetic Curiosities.

The shipyard will have cables suspended across the shipping containers to hold the aerial art. An open call for artists was sent out last week, and submissions can still be submitted through www.theshipyard.org. The event will be built on Friday, and DESTROYED on Saturday.

    PERFORMANCES:
RIGGED: Various performances and art demonstrations, all dangerous, will commence between the bands.

P.A.N. - a Butoh dance group from PORTLAND, OREGON will perform a stunning and soulful dance performance on FRIDAY evening.

P.U.R.E. - an assortment of human marionettes and other body suspension artists will culminate the RIGGED event on Saturday evening, with the LOS ANGLES CACOPHONY SOCIETY offering medical and sarcastic assistance from their trusty Ambulance, as the aerial art is torched, tortured, and the SHIPYARD descends into the pits of a Hieronymus Bosch.

SKIP ARNOLD - International "Bad Boy" Performance artist, known to suspend or wrap himself naked and helpless in the upper roof corners of rooms and art galleries, or act as the "Welcome Mat", or hang hog tied from a life sized tripod in the middle of a MINUTEMEN or WHITEHOUSE show at the ANTI-CLUB, will bring his flare guns, classic 1981 video art, and always sardonic attitude.

MC: SAMANTHA X - Carnival Side Show. Real Carni Freaks bring their traveling museum, and will MC between acts.

    THE MUSIC:
Is completely over the top this year. Talk about VALUE. We have 12 different music performances, any one of which would command your full attention. It's an overfed orgy of post-punk post-nuclear experts. Many of the performances are world premieres, or ONE TIME ONLY occurrences. Highlights include:
    * One of the jewel's this year is: JEFF LONG from SAVAGE REPUBLIC and WASTED YOUTH flies out from Minnesota and out of retirement to perform with JACKSON DEL REY and ETHAN PORT, with ALEPH KALI (F-SPACE, CHROME) on bass. FRI night features new material from the Savage Trio
    (Sav Rep, Ph.d).
SAT night will feature an extremely rare performance of most of SAVAGE REPUBLIC's TRAGIC FIGURES by the original authors of many of the songs. JEFF LONG even promises lyrics to some of the instrumental classics. They are calling this performance SAVAGEd RE/Public
THIS IS THE ONLY PERFORMANCE JEFF LONG IS PLANNING!!!
    * F-SPACE return from EUROPE to perform 3 different sets. FRI will include a special work created just for the RIGGED event, with the Light Panels extended to Alvin Lucier style wires strung across the shipyard. SAT will be the Debut of their new "Bleeding Rays of Dawn" CD. SUN will include tracks from "Preliminary Impact Report" and other as yet unreleased pieces. Scot Jenerik promises some new instruments, still billowing flame and fury.
    * The CHUCK DUKOWSKI SEXTET drives up from Los Angeles. Chuck morphs his former ferocious BLACK FLAG bass playing with ferocious Jazz.
    * The BOYSKOUTS Show three androgynous women show these old geezers what all with their modern brand of Post-Punk slinkiness. They take the CLASH, the PRETENDERS, BLONDIE and collide them face first with SLEATER KINNEY to create a good 'ol Amerikan post-apocalyptic pillow fight.
    * VERONICA LIPGLOSS Is another women fronted trashy sax and thumping bass ensemble combined with heroic George of the Jungle/Adam and the Ants jungle drums and delicious in your face vocals to properly clean your clock. Don't miss this crazy agro group finally put into their native environment.
    * The WEEGS take a more psycho goth side road, walking the tightrope of synth post-punk with humor that promise to take you ALL THEY WAY DOWN the Nervous Gender highway.
    * BLACK ICE and  BINKY both return from last years festival to set the record straight.
    VISUAL ART:
Includes the always brilliant 16mm films by Mollie Simon. Videos include works by SKIP ARNOLD, Shaye Saint John and others.

RE/Search PUBLICATIONS will have their entire catalog for sale. Food and Drink will be available.
